1970

Stefano Zappa, the founder, opened a small shop specialized in coffee roasting and distribution in Via Varanini, Milan. The production took place in a 40 sqm area with a small 30 kg roaster, coffee was roasted on a daily basis, packed by hand and distributed directly by the owner to the customers. Since then Torrefazione Varanini has grown in size, quality and renown.

1985

The firm moves to Limbiate, where it expands introducing more efficient equipments and plants able to meet the increasing demand from the customers. The production of the blends for the bar channel is accompanied by the production for Vending.

2007

Varanini inaugurates the new production plants in the headquarters in Varedo, thus increasing threefold its productive and stocking capacity, thanks to one of the most technologically updated and automatized plants in this sector which allows the production of customized private label blends.

NOWADAYS

Production takes place on a covered area of 1,500 sqm and processes over 20 tons of coffee daily, thanks to two totally automatized and computer-controlled roasting lines and three packaging lines. 50 years of experience in this field and improvements in technology have enabled the company to reach top-quality level and constancy in coffee roasting.

Torrefazione Varanini has always paid constant attention to the quality of its products, which has contributed to the renown of its brand as one of the best in the field of professional use. It was one of the first Italian roasting companies to obtain the Quality Certification ISO 9001, in 1998. The production process starts with a careful search for the top-quality varieties of raw coffee selected in order to ensure best quality and reduce the beans imperfections to the minimum. Bean roasting is slow and meticulous (about 20 minutes) for each one of the varieties that make up the various blends; they are then checked and tasted individually before becoming part of the marketed blends. The automatized packaging guarantees maximum hygiene and perfectly preserves the aromas until final consumption.
